Matt is a General Surgery registrar in the Mersey Region. He is currently undertaking a Cancer Research UK funded PhD as part of a collaboration between Manchester Cancer Research Centre and Leeds Clinical Trials unit, investigating weight loss intervention to prevent obesity-related cancer.
He recently completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Surgical Innovation with Imperial College London, focussing on the adoption of Robotic-Assisted Surgery within the NHS. He is particularly interested in technology-enhanced surgery and data science.
He sits on the executive committees for the Association of Surgeons in training and the Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland. His role with ASiT led to his co-opted role on the council of BADS.
