Back

Bads Emergency Dec 2024

The rationale for effective elective day surgery is well understood and whilst work continues to improve care in this area, the provision of day case/ambulatory emergency & urgent surgical care has been a recent focus of research and healthcare reform. This is because outcomes in emergency surgery have been shown to be poor compared to other countries and compared to elective surgical patients. We can and should be offering high-quality, efficient ambulatory emergency surgery pathways, utilising the best technology available, for the benefit of our patients and making the best use of our valuable and limited healthcare resources.

This conference will enable you to:

  • Network with colleagues working to improve day case emergency general surgery care

  • Understand the fundamental principles of successful emergency surgery ambulatory care pathways

  • Appreciate what data is available to measure performance in emergency general surgery and how to use this for benchmarking

  • Identify key strategies for implementation of emergency surgery ambulatory care

  • Learn what technology is available and how this might improve surgical ambulatory care

  • Support your continuing professional development (CPD) and provide evidence for revalidation. This course provides 4 hours of education to support your appraisal process subject to peer group approval
