Successful day surgery requires a day surgery team with the correct knowledge and skills to enable safe, early recovery and discharge but there is an absence of national guidance on supporting competencies.
This joint publication between the AfPP and BADS provides competency recommendations for members of the day surgery team involved in the care of adult and paediatric patients. It can be used as a guide for day surgery units developing competency documents or as a reference if these already exist.
