Published: CPOC Guideline for the Management of Anaemia in the Perioperative Pathway

The Centre for Perioperative Care (CPOC) has published the Guideline for the Management of Anaemia in the Perioperative Pathway Back

Guideline for the Management of Anaemia in the Perioperative Pathway was drafted by a multidisciplinary working group with input from over twenty organisations from across the perioperative pathway using a whole pathway approach.

The guideline contains recommendations for patients of all ages undergoing surgery and for healthcare professionals in both emergency and elective surgical settings and across specialties.

The aim of the guideline is to ensure that the patient is at the centre of the whole process and that everyone involved in their care carries out their individual responsibilities to minimise the risk from anaemia.

The guideline includes:

1. Full Guideline
2. Guideline Statement
3. Guideline two-page summary
4. Patient Information
5. Infographic: Suggested flowchart for establishing type of anaemia and management
6. Infographic: Steps to consider for each patient

Please keep an eye out in the coming weeks for blogs, social media coverage and implementation content on the new guideline.
