The British Association of Day Surgery (BADS) is inviting passionate, forward-thinking individuals to join our Council as Trustees.
We are currently recruiting for:
- A Trustee who is a Healthcare Professional
- A Lay Trustee (with a finance or management background)

What You’ll Do
This is more than a seat at the table. Over a 3-year term, you’ll actively contribute to shaping strategy and driving initiatives by:
- Participating in Council meetings
- Leading or contributing to focused working groups and BADS events
- Helping influence standards and best practices across the UK
Who We’re Looking For
- Individuals with a genuine passion and enthusiasm for day surgery
- Colleagues from all disciplines including nursing, AHP, surgeons , anaesthetists & managers working in day surgery at different stages of their careers whether that be very new in their career pathway or very experienced – we welcome the different perspectives people will bring.
- Collaborative team players who can either lead or contribute effectively
- Those able to commit a collective time input of approximately one day per month outside of Council meetings

As a Trustee, you’ll also serve as a Director of the Company. While these are important responsibilities, you won’t be alone - we provide:
- A comprehensive induction programme
- Access to expert governance support
- A dedicated mentor (shadow Board member) to guide you in your early months
In addition to opportunities to join Council as a Trustee, we offer a taster member opportunity for an individual to attend Council as a non-voting member for a 12-month term. This place is offered as an opportunity to work with Council to build experience for those wishing to consider joining as a full Council member at a future date.
